Resident Evil (2026 Film)

I watched the horror movie "Resident Evil" which is based on the video game Resident Evil. The film stars Austin Abrams and directed by Zach Cregger. This is the eighth live-action film of Resident Evil film series. The movie is about Bryan Hodukavich (played by Austin Abrams), a medical courier who must struggle to overcome an outbreak of infected monsters in Raccoon City. Honestly speaking, this movie is one of the scariest one I've ever watched this year. There are times I shouted because of scary scenes and suspense. People inside the theatre are also with me having to shout because of frightening elements of the movie. The lead actor Austin Abrams delivered a solid performance on this film. Overall, the movie is worth watching that provides jump scares, humor, and gore.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026 Film)

After tropical Storm "Maymay" unleashed its fury in some parts of the country especially Northern Luzon and parts of CALABARZON (August 6-7 2026), I was able to watched Spider-Man: Brand New Day on its second week run in Philippine theatres.

Finally, our friendly neighborhood Peter Parker aka Spider-Man: Brand New Day has arrived. As expected, I enjoyed watching the latest movie of my favorite superhero. I gave the film 4 out of 5 stars. Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man gave a soulful, solid, and more grounded performance. It is so far the best and more mature of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) Spider-Man films. The movie is a record breaker in the box office, it earned a whooping $1 billion in just 12 days worldwide and still showing in many parts of the world as of this writing. If you have free time with your kids and family, bring them to watch the movie and I'm pretty much sure they will enjoy it.

Colony (2026 Film)

Colony, a South Korean zombie thriller movie is the first film I've watched this month of June 2026. The movie was directed by Yeon Sang-ho, he is also the director of the massive box office hit "Train to Busan".  I enjoyed watching the movie because of it's action, horror,  and zombie genre. The movie is about a professor named Se Jeong attended a biotech conference only to find out and witness it spiral into a tragedy when a quickly mutating virus is released. As the outbreak circulates and infected begin to transform, the authorities lockdown the whole building trapping everyone inside. A group of isolated survivors including Professor Se Jeong were trapped inside and struggles to confront the infected.

Project Hail Mary

If you are a fan of space adventure or odyssey and sci-fi movies, you may consider watching Project Hail Mary starring Ryan Gosling who also produced the movie. It is not surprising Project Hail Mary which has grossed $510 million worldwide (domestic and international) as of April 12, 2026 is a box office hit. I watched the movie yesterday (April 13) and found it visually stunning space adventure with a heartwarming tale of friendship between a space traveler working with an alien to save humanity. There are some scenes of the film that I cried because of the emotional core of the movie. I will not detail it here so you may find it by yourself if you watch it. Overall, Project Hail Mary is one of the best space adventure film I had watched in recent years.

Send Help (2026 Film)

I just watched the movie "Send Help" yesterday (February 09). It is an American dark comedy horror starring Rachel McAdams and Dylan O'Brien. The film was produced and directed by Sam Raimi who is best known for directing the Evil Dead trilogy and Spider-Man trilogy. This is the first movie I watched for the month of February 2026.

I enjoyed watching "Send Help" because I have learned some techniques on how to survive on a deserted island. It is about an employee (Rachel McAdams) and her boss (Dylan O'Brien) who become stranded on a deserted island after a plane crash. While they attempted to survive in the island, tension rises between the two. The film is rated PG-13 (Parental Guidance 13) meaning "Parents Strongly Cautioned" in Philippine cinemas. This indicates some material are not suitable for children under the age of 13, but they can still watch it with parental permission.

You may find some graphic gory scenes on the movie "Send Help" as well as strong/bloody violence, strong language, and disturbing situations. Overall, the movie is undeniably entertaining. So, if you still have a chance and a fan of Sam Raimi movies go watch it.

Avatar Fire and Ash

I had watched the movie Avatar Fire and Ash two days ago. The movie is very entertaining and visually stunning. You will not be frustrated watching the movie for 3 hours and 15 minutes as if you are in the world of Pandora. I had seen the previous two Avatar movies before - Avatar (2009) and Avatar: The Way of Water (2022). I considered this third installment is the best of the three franchise film so far. The third installment had already earned a whooping $1.3 billion at the box office as of this writing. This movie is a must see for everyone, children (with parental guidance), teenagers, and adults.
