Project Hail Mary

If you are a fan of space adventure or odyssey and sci-fi movies, you may consider watching Project Hail Mary starring Ryan Gosling who also produced the movie. It is not surprising Project Hail Mary which has grossed $510 million worldwide (domestic and international) as of April 12, 2026 is a box office hit. I watched the movie yesterday (April 13) and found it visually stunning space adventure with a heartwarming tale of friendship between a space traveler working with an alien to save humanity. There are some scenes of the film that I cried because of the emotional core of the movie. I will not detail it here so you may find it by yourself if you watch it. Overall, Project Hail Mary is one of the best space adventure film I had watched in recent years.

Ready or Not 2: Here I'm Come

I watch today the horror/thriller/comedy movie Ready or Not 2: Here I Come. This is the sequel to Ready or Not movie of 2019. Samara Weaving reprises her role as Grace MacCaullay. Ready or Not 2 follows Grace instantly after the first film. Having survived her in-laws, she is forced into a second match of six elite and Satan worshipping families, pursuing her for sport and power. It brings Grace younger sister Faith (Kathryn Newton), into the fight.

I find the movie so bloody, gory, and violent from the start to the end wherein from the beginning,  showing Grace MacMacaullay soaked with blood while smoking outside the house that is burning, up to the end of the movie together with her younger sister Faith walking soaked with blood because of the intense blood explosion after the wedding ceremony. The movie is worth watching for those who like the first film, and for those who like this kind of genre with those brutal fight scenes, bloody, and violence dominating much of the scenes.  

Easter Sunday (2026)

Easter Sunday is celebrated by Christians around the world as the joyous resurrection of Jesus Christ, ending the Lent. Catholics in the Philippines celebrates Easter through the traditional "Salubong" a pre-dawn re-creation of the Risen Jesus Christ meeting the Blessed Virgin Mary. After this reenactment, a special mass service is performed by the church.

 

Maundy Thursday (2026)

I attended the Maundy Thursday (Holy Thursday) mass  (April 02) at Imus Cathedral (Diocesan Shrine and Cathedral Parish of Our Lady of the Pillar). Maundy Thursday is the Christian holiday on the Thursday  before Easter remembering the Last Supper. This is the day were Jesus Christ shared the last meal with his disciples and washed their feet. 

Palm Sunday (2026)

Today, which is Palm Sunday (Linggo ng Palaspas), millions of Filipino Catholics flock to churches with elaborately woven palm fronds (palaspas) to have them blessed, indicating the start of Holy Week. Palm Sunday commemorates Jesus Christ entry to Jerusalem. After the Sunday Holy mass, devotees will be waving the palm fronds while being blessed with holy water by the priest. They will bring the blessed palms to their homes, hang them on doors or altars. This act is a configuration of protection, deemed  to fend off evil spirits, fire, and protect home from lightning.

A Special Mremory (2026 Film)

A Special Memory is the third movie I watched this month of March 2026. It is a Filipino film starring Bela Padilla and Carlo Aquino. The film is an adaptation of the 2001 Japanese TV series Pure Soul. It concentrates on a couple whose love affair is tried by the early-onset of Alzheimer's disease, changing from a romantic relationship to a poignant passage of memory loss. The movie is considered a tearjerker. If you are a fan of drama movies and will watch A Special Memory, it is recommended to bring tissues or handkerchief because of it's strong emotional impact to the viewers.

Hoppers (2026 Film)

Hoppers is the second animated film I watched for 2026 (Avatar: Fire and Ash is the first one) Produced by Pixar Animation Studios for Disney Pictures. The story is about Mabel Tanaka who is an animal lover, whose mind was shifted into a highly realistic robotic beaver to contact or converse with animals and save their natural environment from human devastation. The movie focuses on environmental conservation and to protect the natural habitat of animals. The movie is funny, charming, and powerful because of it's theme of environmental protection. It is still showing in the Philippines and now on it's second week. If you have time during the weekend, bring your children to watch it and for sure they will enjoy it.

City of Imus Park - Maharlika

The new City of Imus Park Maharlika was opened last February 16, 2026 to the public. It is located along Belarmino Street, Barangay Maharlika, Imus, Cavite. The park is free for children and adults to enjoy kiddie slides, see-saw, swing, outdoor fitness equipments, outdoor gym cycle, pavilion, grass carpet area for picnic, benches and table. The park is open 6am to 7pm, Tuesday to Sunday. Monday is close for maintenance and cleaning. 

The Love One (2026 Film)

The Love One, is the first Filipino film I watched for 2026. The Anne Curtis and Jericho Rosales movie is about two former lovers who are reunited after 15 years, directly deal unresolved emotions, previous heartbreak, and  remaining feelings. Jericho Rosales proves once again that he is one of the best actors of his generation providing a nuanced acting. I had watched numerous films of Jericho Rosales in the past, and he always never disappoints me.  This is the second time I watched Anne Curtis in a movie (the first one is "Aurora" during the December 2018 Metro Manila Film Festival ). She delivered a very strong performance in this film. Overall, I simply enjoyed the movie especially it's non-linear narrative structure. The movie is still showing in some theatres which was release last February 11, 2026. 

National Shrine of Our Lady of La Sallete

I visited last February 17, 2026 and attended the afternoon mass at the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Sallete located at Biga II, Silang, Cavite. This is my first time to visit the Shrine. The place is peaceful and brings a sense of calm. Those who are seeking a refuge of religious retreat like a quiet place for reflection, meditation, prayer, and reconnection with God, the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette is a place to visit. The shrine is easy to locate because it is along Aguinaldo Highway in Silang, Cavite. If you are coming from Manila, you can take a bus going to Tagaytay, Alfonso, Mendez, and Nasugbo route from PITX and inform the bus conductor to drop you at Our Lady of La Salette.
