The Odyssey (2026 Film)

 "The Odyssey" is a visually striking epic movie that is worth watching for. It's a 2 hours and 52 minutes movie adaptation of Homer's ancient Greek epic poem the Odyssey. The movie stars an ensemble cast including Matt Damon (who played Odysseus), Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Charlize Theron, and Lupita Nyong'o. After watching the movie, I considered it as one of the best film of 2026 so far. Kudos to Matt Damon for a strong performance and director Christopher Nolan for his brilliant directing.

Feast Day of Saint James the Greater

Today, Saint James the Greater Parish Church and Barangay Buhay na Tubig at Imus City, celebrated the Feast day of Saint James the Greater through "karakol", a traditional Filipino religious dance procession. Churchgoers and Catholic devotees dance through the streets of Barangay Buhay na Tubig. This "karakol" is to honor the patron saint of the said Barangay.

Evil Dead Burn (2026 Film)

If you are a film buff who likes horror films, "Evil Dead Burn" is a must to see. You will not get disappointed to watch the movie because of it's brutal and bloody scenes, excessive violence and gore. Evil Dead Burn is the sixth installment in the Evil Dead series and it is the sequel of Evil Dead Rise (2023). It is directed by Sebastian Vanicek and produced by Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi, the series creator of Evil Dead. The film cast includes Souhella Yacoub, Tandi Wright, Hunter Doohan, Luciano Buchanan, Erroll Shand, and Maude Davey. The story of Evil Dead Burn is about a distress woman (Alice) who seeks comfort with her in-laws at an isolated house following the death of her husband. The get together was turned into a family assembly from hell as her in-laws transpose into a demon-possessed Deadites. 

Actually I enjoyed watching the movie because of it's brutal and bloody scenes. Every scenes are properly executed by the director and all actors convincingly performed their roles. I recommend this movie for you to watch and you need to bring enough courage to see those bloody scenes and violence. In the Philippines, the movie is rated R-18 which means it is intended mainly for adults 18 years old and older due to mature contents such as violence, adult themes, and nudity. 

Supergirl (2026 Film)

Supergirl is a good movie, but also a bad movie at the same time. This is the first movie I had watched for the month of July 2026. It is a good movie because of it's lead actress Milly Alcock who portrayed Supergirl gave an excellent performance as a beer drinking, unhappy, and a nomad traveling girl in outer space. Her portrayal as Kara Zor-El successfully captured the immensed emotional and physical response to a distressing life. It is a good movie because of it's visually stunning cosmic location, lots of aliens and strange creatures. On the other side of the fence, it is a bad movie because of its average script and visually dark tone movie. Most of the scenes are shot so darkly that you cannot recognize the characters of the film. I found it disappointing that I had to endure watching this movie in the dark. According to Variety, the movie only grossed around $38 million in its opening weekend in the United States against a reported $170-$186 million production budget. 

Colony (2026 Film)

Colony, a South Korean zombie thriller movie is the first film I've watched this month of June 2026. The movie was directed by Yeon Sang-ho, he is also the director of the massive box office hit "Train to Busan".  I enjoyed watching the movie because of it's action, horror,  and zombie genre. The movie is about a professor named Se Jeong attended a biotech conference only to find out and witness it spiral into a tragedy when a quickly mutating virus is released. As the outbreak circulates and infected begin to transform, the authorities lockdown the whole building trapping everyone inside. A group of isolated survivors including Professor Se Jeong were trapped inside and struggles to confront the infected. 

Deep Water

I watched another survival-thriller movie yesterday and found it worth watching. The movie Deep Water stars Aaron Eckhart, Ben Kingsley, and Angus Sampson. It is directed by Renny Harlin. The plot of the movie is about a diverse group of passengers flying from Los Angeles to Shanghai whose airplane goes down in an open ocean with an aggresive sharks circling the area. The survivors need to work together to escape the sinking aircraft and overcome the sharks drawn to the wreckage. 

Chowking Siomai Chao Fan

After watching a movie yesterday, I decided to have my lunch at Chowking Robinsons Imus. I ordered my favorite Siomai Chao Fan with 4 pieces of Fried Pork Siomai dumplings with spicy flavor, a Chinese style fried rice cooked with egg, vegetables, and soy-based seasoning. For drinks, I ordered a medium size pineapple juice and my favorite buchi (3 pieces). Siomai Chao Fan is a popular Filipino Chinese comfort meal. It is one of the top seller in fast-food chains like Chowking Philippines.

The Devil Wears Prada 2

Entertaining and nice movie. I watched yesterday The Devil Wears Prada 2. The cast including Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci reprises their role with the support of Lucy Liu, Kenneth Branagh, and Justin Theroux. Please watch the movie. You will enjoy it.

Yesterday, our friend Mabel who is on vacation from Canada invited us for a simple dinner at Kenshin Japanese Izakaya Restaurant located at SM Light Mall, Mandaluyong City. We had a grand time dining with various Japanese dishes that we ordered and drinks like iced tea, lemonade juice, and calamansi juice.

Project Hail Mary

If you are a fan of space adventure or odyssey and sci-fi movies, you may consider watching Project Hail Mary starring Ryan Gosling who also produced the movie. It is not surprising Project Hail Mary which has grossed $510 million worldwide (domestic and international) as of April 12, 2026 is a box office hit. I watched the movie yesterday (April 13) and found it visually stunning space adventure with a heartwarming tale of friendship between a space traveler working with an alien to save humanity. There are some scenes of the film that I cried because of the emotional core of the movie. I will not detail it here so you may find it by yourself if you watch it. Overall, Project Hail Mary is one of the best space adventure film I had watched in recent years.

Ready or Not 2: Here I'm Come

I watch today the horror/thriller/comedy movie Ready or Not 2: Here I Come. This is the sequel to Ready or Not movie of 2019. Samara Weaving reprises her role as Grace MacCaullay. Ready or Not 2 follows Grace instantly after the first film. Having survived her in-laws, she is forced into a second match of six elite and Satan worshipping families, pursuing her for sport and power. It brings Grace younger sister Faith (Kathryn Newton), into the fight.

I find the movie so bloody, gory, and violent from the start to the end wherein from the beginning,  showing Grace MacMacaullay soaked with blood while smoking outside the house that is burning, up to the end of the movie together with her younger sister Faith walking soaked with blood because of the intense blood explosion after the wedding ceremony. The movie is worth watching for those who like the first film, and for those who like this kind of genre with those brutal fight scenes, bloody, and violence dominating much of the scenes.  

Easter Sunday (2026)

Easter Sunday is celebrated by Christians around the world as the joyous resurrection of Jesus Christ, ending the Lent. Catholics in the Philippines celebrates Easter through the traditional "Salubong" a pre-dawn re-creation of the Risen Jesus Christ meeting the Blessed Virgin Mary. After this reenactment, a special mass service is performed by the church.
